CSJD Pedagogy

Let’s call the new educational pedagogy, the new intellect mapping and teaching method, Circle Square Judge Do, or CSJD for short.  This is how boutons ideated. This is how any course should be documented and taught. CS teaches theory and JD teaches practical application. If you are not teaching both, you lose the students, and are a bad teacher. How do we know this is true? Look at the good teachers now. They do this intuitively. The bad ones do not. Also ask any student. If the course was too theoretical, or too practical, they do not like. The teaching art is found in the CSJD balance. -g

Hi Adults,

It is clear to many that we need a new approach to education in the USA. The numbers indicate a disaster.  We spend about 40% more per pupil and now rank 17th, out of the 30 Industrial Nations.  Over 30% of USA students now drop-out of High School.  Once we were on top, in both categories. 

In short, the once powerful and productive USA is killing itself, inside out. The failed educational system is eating-the-future of our children.  Plus the current Educational Leaders (so called) are placing their heads in the sand and NOT taking corrective action to help.  Finally, the American People seem too busy to care.  

Who is steering the boat?  What do they want?  Why is no solution on the horizon?  This is really, really bad.

Let me offer a ideological solution based on how boutons ideate.  If you know how the mind works, you can take simple action to make it work better.  This is new educational insight.  An approach to solving this problem might be the CSJD pedagogy, which is directly base on the science of bouton ideation.

Pedagogy is a Ancient Greek word, applied to the education of their youth, which literally means "to turn away."  The early Greek's knew it was the responsibility of the adults to turn kids towards more productivity thoughts and behaviors.  Left alone, kids do not have the answers.  Good education naturally directs children into more life giving and sustaining thoughts.  We USA Americans are NOT doing that.  We are failing to properly educate about half of our kids.  The shame on us, we the people.

There are many pedagogical methods proposed and in use.  Circle Square Judge Do (CSJD) is the only one based on Cognitive Science (an efficient idea energy transformation, for the life of any thing).  That means it is the only method based on how ideas get seeded, take hold, and productively grow between the neurons.

As such CSJD is both more motivational and informative: at the same time.  Motivating accelerated learning is what CSJD can, has, and will continue to do.

How do I know this is absolutely true?  Cognitive Science tells me so.  Let me ask, "How do you know your existing educational pedagogy is any good?"  Is it based on how the mind grows naturally, connecting boutons bits? No it is not.  Plus, I have factual quantitative evidence that the existing educational method is continuing to FAIL.

CSJD is based on science.  Other pedagogues are based on opinion.  The first leads to productive education and the second leads to political dysfunction.  You make your own judgment.

For me, the case is closed.  We either abruptive and dramatically change "how we teach" or we'll continue to fail our children.  Shame on us all, if we continue to eat-the-future of our kids.   -g

Circle Square

In the fall of 1972, I had just returned to Cornell from the University of Reading (at Reading I used statistics to study the commodity-buying behaviors found in the EEC) and my dad challenged me with an insightful question.

“What are you going to do with this fine education, which we are paying?”

The question means what only a dad can ask.  This took a few months to resolve.  My answer was, “In my lifetime, I’d establish a philosophy of information processing, as it relates to business.”  I thought it would take 20 years to do this.  It has taken 40.

I name this philosophy: Circle Square or Circle Squaring.  This is because these are the two most fundamental symbols that I know.  Bouton ideation is based on circle-squaring.  Consciousness beats these two.  Let me explain.  This insight has useful and practical application.

The math beyond Tensor Math is affective.  It is not named yet.  I’d offer Sensor Math, as a name.  The Future has an impact upon the Presence.  The Presence senses what the Future holds, and moves toward opportunity.  That sensation is material: it has an energetic affect.  So says conjugate variable Uncertainty and all the Quantum Mechanical experiments (including the Delayed Choice Experiment).

The Big Picture

Where does this circle/square idea come from?  Where does it fit?  Why is it a useful and productive thought?

In short, it’s a universal: created by the expanding universe, which contains things.  That is, nothing created by and contained by the Universe can know it all (circle).  Therefore, all contained things place their knowledge in square containers. Content is relative to context.

Circle/squaring is the base of how anything knows.  We know content characteristics via the context frame.  This is useful.  It is also a skew.

Down to Earth

Stepping back from the Cosmological, we epistemological philosophers can say:

“All things are understood in context.”

Let’s get even more specific, let’s talk about that meeting you just attended.  Did the people stay on point?  How much time was wasted with off-point dialogue?

OK.  Let’s be even more personal: do you know how to think on-point?

Is on-point, emotive and rational thinking (circle/square) a good thing?

Practical Knowledge

Circle/squaring is a very practical idea that is used in all domains of expertize.   Math uses circle/squares.  Logic uses circle/squares.  Writing uses circle/squares.  Engineering uses circle/squares.  Website design uses circle/squares.  Consulting uses circle/squares.  Relationships are give-and-take circle/squares.  Etc.

In fact, you cannot identify a domain of human intelligence that is not based on circle/squaring.  Even the phase “domain of knowledge” is a circle/square.

So what practical thing can you now do based on the new philosophy called Circle/Squaring?  Let me know how you use this insight for your social, economic, rational, and emotional benefit.

Note:  Michael Deines and I are applying circle/square to a new Website design method called padame (page data me).  In short, we link pages and data reports to “surround information” the targeted audience.  Doing this is more affective.  The benefit is more eyeballs.

With the circle/square thought, there is a more productive fit.  Less now gets more.  This is a good thing.

Applied Cognitive Science

As a practicing Cognitive Scientists (one whom discovers and applies), it is important for me to see and use proven techniques of this trade.  We want the science to pay off for humanity.

For example, PFUI (Person First User Interfaces) is a new concept that has emerged using CogSci.  See above. It's jumping off point is the very fine work of Luke Wroblewski.  He has an insightful piece at:

Where Luke describes a GUI of physical place, the Person First GUI massages the mind.  There is a big difference in these two approaches.

IPO vs. M2U

IPO is a computer term.  It stands for input-process-output.  M2U is a CogSci developed term.  It means me-to-you.  The first pushes stuff at me: processes me.  The second draws me in: attracts me.  One sells and the other serves.  That intentional difference will make all the difference, in the success of any Website.

An Example

Here is a simple example.  Let's say you go to a new Website.  You go their because you are looking for something specific.  Most people do not go from one Website to another without a specific need in mind.

The design of any Website should start with what your visitors may have in their mind.  Right?  This is a CogSci rule.  The form of anything should be based on the desired affection: My Mind.  Move the minds to move the money.  Move Minds (MM): do that if you want to make money.

How many do?  How many Website designers think about me, to clearly know what's in my mind?  Sorry to say, they are thinking primarily about them, not me.  Graphically it looks good.  The functionality is poor, in relation to my ideological needs.  This is an intentional mistake.

How do we know this is true?  Go to the typical Website and what do you see: a lot of GUI fluff and not much useful stuff.  Now think: what would I like this Website to be doing?  See that difference.  It is material.

Correcting the Problem

If you know how the mind works, selecting and processing symbols, then you can clearly think about their thinking.  That means you can develop Websites that better anticipate and serve my ideological needs.  Serve me to sell me.  This method is time tested.

If you do not know how my mind works, or do not care to find out, then continue to push your GUI at me.  It might win you some Ad Agency Website design awards.  Good for you.  It will also push me (the prospect and customer) away.  That is bad.

In the Internet Age, pushing people is bad business.  You want to properly affect before the effect.

We call this ACE (Affect Causes Effect).  It was developed, as a practical business tool, in CogSci.

Metaxy is in-between.

Before yesterday, logos was my favorite Ancient Greek word. Logos combines intent and reason. In doing, logos describes how consciousness works. A conscious human has a goal and knows how to get there. The more self-direct, in the context of the commonwealth, the better.

One important use of the Greek word Logos is John 1:1.

"In the beginning was the Word (Logos)."

As you know, early Greek thinkers were not dumb. The thinking of people like Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Herodotus, Thucydides, Pythagoras, Euclid, Archimedes, Hippocrates, and Pericles has stood the test of time. Ancient Greece was a remarkable culture. Today metaxy is my favorite Greek word.

Metaxy means in-between. It can be used for all things. Anything has an in-between. All things have an in-between. It turns out, this in-between place is very important. Life happens in-between.

Let me make this brief. 

Bouton ideation happens between boutons. Self consciousness places your logos (intent and reasoned forms) in-between the boutons. In doing, that conscious ideological action affects material sensation energy flows.

Boutons sense and respond to the opportunity to 'eat' these new sensation energy streams. In doing, boutons ideate. That is, they convert the available sensation energy into their physical structures (laminate) creating ideological roadways, in the brain/mind complex. The laminating bouton from one neuron eats through the mylin sheath of another, soldering up mental connections.

That is how a conscious adult mind is made, via intentional re-ideation. This is easy when you know how.

How to grow good boutons.

Bouton re-ideation is a personalized process, best done in groups of like-minded teams (more in-between in the aligned collective). Ideation is done via thinking in linked words. This is intentional reason.

It is really that simple. Find the right set of words. Place them consciously in-between your existing mindset. Then JAD. Think and act. Faith and works. That's it. In this way, the mind can overcome time. Each person can artfully find more time for and in their life. That time makes you money.

Keep in mind, "In the beginning was the Word" means in the beginning was the logos (actually, the Logos of God, the Creator). We use 'word' in English to mean logos (intent and reason). Word means Logos, generally.

Boutons are like muscles  Any person can personally start cultivating better (stronger) boutons by thinking and knowing the linked words, of their destiny (CMD = Career Manifest Destiny). Any team can become more productivity by properly differentiating and coordinating their mindsets (that collection of words). Remembered words cause good actions. OSHM.

If you know and do this, you are a boutonologist. If you know and do this, you can improve thinking and worldly success via the re-ideation of yourself and others. Adapt and get better. It is done, caused by, the thinking, contained in your linked words.

Knowing how your mind works, factoring ideas in-between, is a good thing. Boutonics is a good set of words. They teach you self-mind-control. -g

The major problem today is that most people do not know how their mind works. Therefore, these minds are not really working all that well. This is the problem that CogSci has solved. I added a few insights.

Brain is not mind. Brain is made up of neurons, put in place by DNA. We all have about 100 billion neuron cells with a cell body, dendrites, and an axon. These neurons do not touch. That mass is brain. Sensation energy travels one way: from afferent neurons (sense organs in), to Cognitive Neurons in the skull (also called inter-neurons), with decisions going out to muscle and gland cells via efferent neurons. 

ACE = Afferent-Cognitive-Efferent neurons.

Neurons are grown and moved into place by DNA. This is your nature. Neurons do not touch, there is a synapse. Neurons are also covered by an insulating myelin sheath. Where sensation energy build up, it jumps the gap, creating an electrochemical process that grows a bouton (Cajal 1906 Nobel Prize), a button. Your mind is stored in these buttons (boutons). A bouton is a mind pixel. They are the atom of thought; the smallest unity of memory.  Boutons make up your nurture.

Hence Boutonics, Inc. We study the ideating nature of boutons (research), teach bouton ideation (the Bouton Cyber College), and 5% license bouton IP to other firms whom build practical products (like Sengii data web).

All of the above is physical and known by some. Bouton ideation is my real contribution. We know how the mind works because we know how boutons ideate; how they are affected by forms (shapes) carried on sensation energy waves. This affect is both serial (linear) and parallel (non-linear) at the same time. JAD .. Judge and Do links a heurism and an algorithm. This affect, the bouton ideation process, is centered on the opportunity for life.

Each person has approx. 100 billion neurons. Each neuron has about 1,000 boutons. This means the pixel capacity of the human mind is 100 trillion bouton bits. However, each of these bouton pixels are a self-regulating computer. They individually decide for their life. Each of these bouton life decisions helps the whole human intentionally cognate. A conscious self emerges from this sub-conscious bouton processing.

I just used the word ‘computer’ to describe a bouton. This is not completely accurate. It was an intermediary concept. Boutons do not computer. Rather they decide. This is a very important difference. Bouton deciding, that process, is how they individually and collectively ideate. Let’s first discuss this word ideation.

Ideation means to factor multiple ideas and to decide; to choose one idea. That selection process pops a single idea into conscious working memory, and gives it a number (percent perfection .. 100% is best). Then it pops the next potential idea and gives it a perfect number percent. This is done until all of the ideas, for that level, have been ranked in context of the stated intent (life is always the intent .. more life for less effort).  

The deciding is done in one quantum step, a heurism.  Nothing is computed.  The contextual ideal is decided and the sensation energy action potential is shifted to another group of bouton deciders.

Ideation is boutons deciding, collectively and recursively. The final ideal, the best idea in that context, is assembled based on the collective go/no go decision by each bouton. These decisions are communicated via an electrochemical bouton release (serially) and the associated magnetic wave (parallelism). Bouton serial electrochemical release is much slower than its magnetic energy transfer. It is also local to that synapse where the magnetic wave is global.

Boutons ideate by judging and doing. They are effected by sensation push and affected by magnetic energy transfer pull. That is how ideas become stored ideals, causing a mind to develop, with it subsequent behaviors.

A final note on value. What is the value of knowing how boutons ideate? 

Well, if you know how the mind works then you can take direct conscious action to make it work better. This is what the OSHM thought tool does individually and in groups. It is a refined ideator. OSHM thinking causes better thoughts to grow in us all.

That’s what we have learned in our research and now successfully teach to others. We know how the mind works. Once you know, then you can take direct action to make yours work better.

Metaxy is Opportunity

What I call Opportunity, Plato calls metaxy.  He means "in between" things.  I mean, "What is real now has projected a collective probability of becoming."  This metaphysical projection is instantaneous, futuristic, and affecting on the present becoming.  It is Opportunity to be.

That means Opportunity is physically energetic.  Review the QM math.  Opportunity explains the quantum anomalies. Physics is not a close system because consciousness observes, chooses, and that choice makes a physical and energetic difference on becoming.

In short, artropy (new word) overcomes entropy, in the local reformation.  Life is right-handed.  It has its skew pre-materially.  That skew is more for less.  This wins all the time.

This is what the ancient thinkers meant by metaphysics.  Meta is above, before, and around the physical.

Physics is not a closed system, unless defined as such, by Axiomatic Set Theory.

Voegelin's understanding of philosophy, which embraces his understanding of Christianity, flows from this sense of conscious human existence located in an unfathomable region that can only be described, somewhat apophatically, as neither this nor that, because as soon as one attempts to gain certainty by declaring precisely what it is in terms of our worldly concepts, we lose it. To refer to it as flux really means that it defies any attempt to confine it within humanly generated categories. For this enigmatic region of experience he adopted the Platonic symbol of the metaxy, the "In-Between," the region of reality where human consciousness searches for, is drawn by, and encounters the awesomely mysterious transcendent flux of divine presence. In his essay "Eternal Being in Time" he says that "in the philosophical experience, neither does eternal being become an object in time nor is temporal being transposed into eternity. We remain in the 'in between', in a temporal flow of experience in which eternity is present. This flow cannot be dissected into past, present, and future of the world's time, for at every point of the flow there is the tension toward the transcending eternal being. This characteristic of the presence of eternal being in temporal flow may be best represented by the term flowing presence."¹⁹ "Transcendence" and "immanence" denote not places but directions in the structure of reality encountered in the experience. Plato first used this symbol of the In-Between in The Symposium when Socrates asks Diotima whether Eros, the psychic force that drives the soul to seek the divine, is a mortal or an immortal, and she replies, using the preposition metaxy, that Eros is neither but instead is in tension "between" them, partaking of both but not fully identifiable with either. This is the ground of the experiences of transcendence that cannot be described or defined but only symbolized. Major problems arise, Voegelin believed, if the loss or obscuring of the original experience causes the symbol to harden into a literal truth or dogma that has the effect of eliminating the tension by creating the illusion of a certain grasp of Truth. I use the word "hardens" deliberately, because Voegelin thinks of metaxic experiences as steeped in the tension of the fluidity and unpredictability of divine presence. ²⁰

All human beings, by virtue of having human consciousness, exist in the metaxy, although to varying degrees and with different levels of tolerance for the tension and uncertainty in the experience of flow, change, appeal and response, movements and countermovements, and questioning that cannot be translated into propositions, all of which can be only inadequately articulated as symbols that are really meant to point others to their own metaxic experiences. The greater the awareness of the "structure" of this process the greater the degree of what Voegelin calls the "differentiation of consciousness." When the emphasis of the symbolization falls on the human quest for the divine and the anxiety of losing the right direction he uses the term "noetic." When the emphasis is on the other pole of this tension, the divine presence and the "pull" that draws the soul beyond itself, the term is "pneumatic."²¹ For Voegelin either term points to the same uncontrollable and unpredictable flux that cannot be captured or communicated in the concepts developed to describe the "things" in the world of our sense experience. He follows Plato and Aristotle in using the term "psyche" for the sensorium of divine reality, the site of "divine- human mutual participation, as the metaleptic [participatory] reality," and the "site in which the comprehensive reality becomes luminous to itself."²²

Past-Present-Future crossed with meaning hierarchy (Dikw) = 4-way thinking = Conscious advancement via OSHM symbolic alignment.

Past Dikw>> (conscious present) << Future Dikw .. this might be all we need to teach.
